Power Available vs Power Required Graph

Regarding this example graph:

Rate of climb is determined by the excess of power available over the power required.

The minimum power required speed to fly straight and level is 40 MPH.

The minimum straight and level speed (Vmin) is 20 MPH, anything slower and the aircraft will descend.

The maximum straight and level speed (Vmax) is 85 MPH, anything faster and the aircraft will descend.

Maximum Rate Of Climb (ROC) speed is where the biggest power margin is between available and required.
