Take-off Distance

There are a few considerations that would increase the take-off distance in an aircraft.

  • Using a runway with long, wet thick grass compared to a dry smooth sealed runway.
  • Having the nose too high creating too much drag for flight which in turn can cause the dragging of the tail wheel along the ground
  • Tailwind or crosswinds compared to a headwind
  • A higher Take-off weight
  • Lack of power
  • Starting the take-off roll with low RRPM
