Fuel Planning

Calculate the minimum fuel required on a given VFR cross-country flight.

To calculate the amount of fuel required on a flight you need to know the fuel consumption rate of the aircraft and the total amount of flight times, times for taxi Takeoff and landing, and reserve.

Scenario:

A - B flight time                                   36 minutes

B - C flight time                                   48 minutes

Taxi, take-off, join and landing        20 minutes

Reserve                                                30 minutes

Fuel Burn Rate                                    15 litres/hour

What is the minimum fuel required for this flight in litres?

36 + 48 + 20 + 30 =

134 minutes

134 minutes @ 15 litres/hr = 34 litres

Calculator:   15 ÷ 60 x 134 = 34 litres
