For a VFR cross-country, calculate the Track

The true course, or intended track, is the angle between the plotted course line between two points and the selected meridian on the chart.

It's always measured in a clockwise direction, starting from 000° at true north and going around to 360°.

To find the true course, you should measure it with the meridian closest to halfway between your starting point and destination.

A common way to measure this is by using a protractor.

You align the protractor with the meridian on the chart and the plotted course line to determine the true course angle accurately.
