14.80 Terminology

14.80.2 Explain the meaning of:

(a) tip path;

The circular path traced by the rotor blade tips during rotation

 

(b) tip path plane;

The imaginary flat plane formed by the rotating blade tips

 

(c) axis of rotation;

The imaginary line about which the rotor rotates
