12.14 Fuel Injection

12.14.2 State the advantages/disadvantages of fuel injection versus carburetor systems.

Fuel injection systems have several advantages over carburetor systems, including:

1. Improved fuel efficiency:

Fuel injection systems are able to deliver fuel more precisely than carburetor systems, which can lead to improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

2. Better performance:

Fuel injection systems can adjust the fuel-air mixture more precisely than carburetor systems, which can lead to better engine performance and responsiveness.

3. Lower maintenance:

Fuel injection systems require less maintenance than carburetor systems, as they have fewer moving parts and are less prone to clogging and other issues.

4. More reliable:

Fuel injection systems are generally more reliable than carburetor systems, as they are less prone to flooding and other issues that can cause the engine to stall or fail.

However, fuel injection systems also have some disadvantages, including:

1. Higher cost:

Fuel injection systems are generally more expensive than carburetor systems, both in terms of the initial cost of the system and the cost of maintenance and repair.
