Circuit Considerations
This briefing covers the aspects of a normal circuit that were deferred during the Circuit introduction to prevent overwhelming the students.
Objectives:
- To further advance circuit training.
- To implement touch-and-go and go-around procedures.
- To apply the terminology and procedures used when a deviation from the normal circuit is necessary.
Considerations:
Touch and Go
The touch and go is a procedure that involves a normal landing followed by an immediate take-off without stopping or braking. This method allows for more practice circuits and landings, as it eliminates the need to stop and taxi back to the holding point, making it especially useful in busy circuits.
It should only be conducted on runways that are sufficiently long, assuming the aircraft has landed in the appropriate area, such as the threshold or numbers zone.
In standard practice, unless there's an emergency that requires immediate power application, the landing phase should be completed before increasing power for the 'go' phase of the manoeuvre.
