4.12 Eligibility, Privileges and Limitations
4.12.2 Describe the allowance for a person who does not hold a current pilot licence to fly dual with a flying instructor. CAR Part 61
61.103 General
A person who does not hold a current pilot licence issued or validated under CAR Part 61 must not manipulate the controls of an aircraft unless they are:
- receiving dual flight instruction from an appropriately qualified flight instructor; or
- acting as pilot-in-command under rule 61.105.
For dual flight instruction to be permitted:
- the instructor must be appropriately qualified; and
- the instructor must occupy a pilot seat.
A person receiving dual flight instruction may log the flight time as dual flight time.
4.12.4 State the solo flight requirements on a person who does not hold a current pilot licence. CAR Part 61
61.105 Solo flight requirements
A person who does not hold a current pilot licence issued or validated under CAR Part 61 must not fly an aircraft solo unless all required conditions are met.
To fly solo, the person must:
be at least 16 years of age;
hold either:
at least a current Class 2 medical certificate issued by the Director; or
