To compensate for drift and take the aircraft off the ground

  • During a crosswind take-off, there will exist a side force on the keel surface of the aircraft,
  • As this keel surface is behind the centre of gravity of the aircraft,
  • The tendency will be for the aircraft to yaw into the wind.
