EFFECT OF CONTROLS


AIM:

To demonstrate the effect movement of the controls, have on the gyro in flight and on the ground.

  • Pull back to decrease power

AIR EXERCISE:

1.         Taxi to Holding Point

4.         Airspeed

Low Airspeed

  • Rudder light & less effective,
  • Large movements required

High Airspeed

  • Rudder firm & more effective,
  • Small movements required

     


5.         Power & Torque

Increase power

  • nose pitches up, yaws left, rolls right
  • requires forward stick, right pedal, left stick

Decrease power

  • nose pitches down, yaws right, rolls left
  • requires back stick, left pedal, right stick

 


6.         Slipstream

Low power         

  • Rudder light & less effective
  • Large movements required

High power         

  • Rudder firm & more effective
  • Small movements required

 


7.         Trim

Stick force forward

  • Trim aft

Stick force aft             

  • Trim forward

8.         After Landing

  • Come to a stop
  • stick fully forward & into wind
  • revise taxiing
